We have showrooms in Basel, Switzerland and San Francisco, CA. We are an interior design + art showroom and online shop specializing in rare and eccentric Designer Vintage Furniture, interiors and art objects. We carry Mid-Century and Post Modern Scandinavian, American, Italian and French one-of-a-kind pieces.
Everything in our inventory is hand-selected from throughout the United States, Central and Northern Europe. We focus on representing designers who are unique to a particular period or movement.
Catch My Drift was founded by Aliza Rand and Joel Kaipainen in Madison, Wisconsin in 2010. We carefully curate a very limited collection. True to our name, we enjoy the concept of throwing each “Catch” with its story and meaning out there again for someone else to catch and enjoy for many more years to come.
Catch My Drift Vintage began with a true passion for incredible design and art, and with the yearning to explore the intricacies of great, rare designer pieces.
Our backgrounds are centered in art: Aliza has a BA in Art from UCLA and an MFA in Performance Art and Photography from UC Berkeley, while Joel is a Cultural Studies Ph.D. and art critic. Aliza’s main goal as curator and photographer is to show how the piece itself is a work of art..
During a photo shoot, once we have showcased all angles of a design, we like to create exciting sets and vignettes that show how the furniture can live among other pieces and in a specific color scheme and space. We hope for our clients to imagine possible settings for their future piece, but also to embrace the movement or period that it is from.
All of our items are period, vintage items from the 50’s-90’s that are appreciated in their original form, and when needed, brought back to life through our in-house restoration, refinishing, and reupholstering.
For us, sustainability and decorating with vintage furniture go hand in hand. We continue to be astounded with the quality and craftsmanship of the designer pieces that were made in the 50’s-90’s. We work with very talented designers who are enthusiastic about textile sourcing, which in and of itself is a true art, and we have skilled upholsterers on hand, that are excited to work on this process with us.
Catch My Drift is proud to be a sustainable family business and part of a “less waste movement” celebrating the importance of minimalistic living with quality goods, which we feel is important for our generation and generations to come.
Our sister company, Pikku Takki, also features limited runs of one-of-a-kind fashion for babies to adults.
Each piece is sustainably and ethically produced, handmade by artisans and conceived of and collaborated on between Artists and Designers from around the globe.
